Ogden in 1890 was a Weber County town whose businesses ran along Twenty-fifth Street, the commercial spine where merchants sold dry goods, hardware, and farm supplies to families from the valley and the canyon settlements. Timber and ore hauled down from the Wasatch and the Weber River's upper reaches supplied sawmills and smelting interests, and wagons and trains carried those materials out to a wider market. Residents of the Ogden River canyon also knew the area for its hot springs, which drew bathers and day-trippers who rode out from town. This bird's-eye view shows the town as the people who lived and traded there would have recognized it.

NotesAn original bird's-eye view map of Ogden City, Utah, drawn in 1890. Bird's-eye view maps were drawn by travelling artists who walked a town street by street, sketching every building from an imagined vantage point in the air, then sold the finished lithograph door to door by subscription. Roughly five thousand American towns were recorded this way between the 1860s and the 1920s, and for many of them the panoramic map is the most complete picture of the place that survives.
