Yachts laid up for the winter at Tebo's, a boatyard and basin known to New York-area sailors, are the subject of this glass negative. The Bain News Service, which George Grantham Bain founded in New York in the early 1900s, made pictures like this for newspapers to use as news and feature illustrations. Winter storage scenes such as this one show the stripped, shrouded hulls and idle rigging that yachting crews faced each off-season. The title comes from the Bain caption information, which has not been independently verified, so the exact location and date are best treated as provisional.
