A glass negative of Nicholas J. Sinnott, an Oregon congressman, is one of the portraits the National Photo Company made of public figures in the early 1920s. The Washington, D.C., firm built a large file of images of officials and newsmakers, and the record dates this one to about 1921 to 1922 based on neighboring negatives. The title comes from information written on the negative or its sleeve, which the record notes has not been verified. The streaks and blemishes visible on the glass are the result of natural deterioration in the original coating, a common condition for plates of this age.
