Cincinnati and its construction trades set this poster apart from the program's many occupational images. Produced in silkscreen in 1937 under the Federal Art Project, it belongs to the Works Progress Administration's poster program, which made posters on public services, health, and community life during the Depression. The back bears a date stamp of November 24, 1937, a useful marker of when the piece was completed. Silkscreen let the project print bold, flat color in multiple copies, and posters like this one gave the public a visual record of the work people did in their own city.
