The caption places this glass negative in Beirut, but the record gives no date, and the title comes from unverified notes kept with the Bain News Service negatives. Bain was a New York picture agency that sold news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century, and its negatives later passed to the Library of Congress. Beirut saw many displaced people across that period, and camps there sheltered families fleeing war and upheaval, so the subject fits the era. The location and the camp should be read as the agency's label rather than as confirmed fact.
