Bull IV, numbered 60 of an edition of 100 and signed and dated in pencil by the artist, is one of six bull prints Roy Lichtenstein made in 1973. He took his cue from Pablo Picasso's bull lithographs of the mid-1940s, which strip the animal down step by step from a naturalistic drawing to a few spare lines. Lichtenstein translated that process into his own Pop language of flat color, bold outlines, and dot patterns.
