Rather than a horse, this color poster advertises the 1958 British comedy *The Horse's Mouth*, whose title plays on the saying that news learned from the horse's mouth comes straight from the source. Alec Guinness, who also wrote the screenplay adapted from Joyce Cary's 1944 novel, plays Gulley Jimson, a stubborn, penniless painter who pursues his work with reckless single-mindedness. The poster is undated in its record but is estimated at around 1958, the year the film was released, and it reflects how studios marketed their films to audiences through eye-catching printed art.
