Few buildings on this board were drawn as carefully as this 1922 ink plan of the Selwyn's Park Square theater, which stood at the corner of Providence Street and Park Square in Boston. The building had been known as the Cort theater before the Selwyn name came to it, a change that reflects how often Boston's playhouses changed hands in the early twentieth century. Drawings like this one record a theater's layout, including its seating, stage, and circulation, at a time when movie houses and live stage productions were competing for the same urban audiences. The ADE collection at the Library of Congress preserves such plans as a record of how these interiors were built and used.
