Five men in suits, including Jacob Ruppert and Miller Huston, the Yankees' owners, and Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis, are named in this view of the April 1923 opening of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Harry Frazee, the owner of the Boston Red Sox, is also listed, which fits the opening-day matchup against Boston. The Bain News Service caption supplies these names and the date, which the record marks as unverified, so the identifications rest on that card. The stadium was the first built for the Yankees, and its opening helped establish the team as a major draw in New York.
