John D. Rockefeller stands full-length in this 1913 print, posed beside a bicycle, a pairing that looks odd for one of the richest men in America. The back of the print carries a stamp reading "Velox for the N.Y. H. Service, Dec. 9, 1913," which shows it was made as a Velox print for a New York newspaper's photo service. The picture belongs to the New York World-Telegram and the Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection at the Library of Congress. Its title was devised by Library staff, so the bicycle pairing reflects the image itself rather than a caption from the time.
