Issued in 1942 under the title *Avenge December 7*, this color poster by artist Bernard Perlin turns the date of the Pearl Harbor attack into a direct call to action. The Office of War Information, created that June to coordinate government communication about the war, produced it as O.W.I. poster no. 15 and had it printed by the Government Printing Office for wide public display. Like much wartime art, it aimed to channel the anger and grief of the attack into sustained effort on the home front and in the armed forces.
