A delivery truck carrying a turkey bound for the White House puts the holiday's presidential tradition on the road. Turkeys were sent to the executive mansion as Thanksgiving gifts from poultry growers and trade groups, and the custom became a regular part of the season in the mid-twentieth century. The image is a reminder of how the gift was physically moved to Washington, often in vehicles decorated for the occasion, and of how a private gesture grew into a public ritual that still draws attention each November.
