A patriotic postcard from the early twentieth century, it puts drummers and a large flag at the center of its design rather than a specific place or event. Holiday postcards like this were printed in huge numbers, often in color lithography, and were mailed as greetings around Independence Day. The drummers recall the fife-and-drum tradition of the Revolutionary era, which Americans revived in parades and civic celebrations as a link to the nation's founding. Look closely at the flag and the uniforms, since such cards often combined stylized graphics with sentimental patriotic imagery to appeal to buyers.
