Tom Connally, the Texas lawyer and Democrat pictured here, appears on this glass negative from the Bain News Service, which supplied news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s into the 1920s. The record gives no date, so the sitting can't be placed precisely. Connally went on to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and then the Senate, where he chaired the Foreign Relations Committee during the years after World War II. The Bain agency's caption cards are the source for his name, and the archive notes that this identification is unverified, so the attribution is worth checking against other records of the period.
