Published in the Madrid weekly *Blanco y Negro*, this cartoon by Blanco Coris turns the "Yankee pig" caricature against the United States. The record dates it to February 19, 1898, just four days after the battleship *Maine* exploded in Havana harbor on February 15, an event that pushed Washington and Madrid toward war. Spanish illustrated magazines of the period often drew Americans as greedy, gluttonous hogs, and cartoons like this one show how hostile Spanish public opinion had become. The date and attribution come from an old caption card and have not been independently verified.
