Col. Yama Muro is the name the Bain News Service gave this glass negative, but the record notes that the title comes from the agency's own unverified notes and caption cards, so the identification should be treated with some caution. Bain News Service, a New York agency, supplied news pictures to newspapers and magazines from about 1900 into the early 1930s, and negatives like this one were made for quick distribution to editors. The glass plates show press photography before roll film took over much of the work, and because the record gives no date, the picture's exact timing remains open.
