The Arbor of Plows, shown in Agriculture Hall at the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, turned farm implements into a decorative display for the 1876 fair. Held in Fairmount Park to mark the nation's hundredth birthday, the exhibition drew millions of visitors and showcased American manufacturing alongside goods from abroad. Agriculture Hall was filled with reapers, threshers and plows from makers hoping to win medals and buyers.
