Currier & Ives printed "Faith Hope Charity" around 1874, and its subject is the three theological virtues drawn from 1 Corinthians 13:13, which the firm rendered as an allegory rather than a scene from a particular place or event. Like much of the firm's output, the lithograph was made to be affordable and widely sold, aimed at middle-class households that displayed moral and religious images on parlor walls. Currier & Ives, based in New York, became one of the most prolific American print publishers of the nineteenth century, and their chromolithographs of this kind helped shape popular sentiment about faith and domestic virtue. The record lists it in the Library of Congress catalog of the firm's work, where it is identified by its entry in a later catalog raisonné.
