The title of this glass negative names two people, Stanley and Murray, but the record does not say who they were or when the picture was made. The title comes from information supplied by the Bain News Service on the negatives or their caption cards, and it has not been independently verified. George Grantham Bain founded the New York agency around 1899, and it supplied news photographs to newspapers for roughly three decades. Glass plates like this one were the standard working medium for news photographers of that era, so the image is useful as a document of the period even without a firm date.
