Mirko Ivosevich sits astride a horse in this glass negative from the Bain News Service files. The record gives no date, and the Library of Congress notes that the title comes from caption cards whose details are unverified, so the occasion remains uncertain. Bain's New York agency supplied newspapers with pictures of people and events in the early twentieth century, and its glass plates preserve fine detail. Horses were still a common sight on city streets then, which gives the picture added interest as a record of how people rode and worked alongside them.
