Cincinnati's WPA poster for an airplane mechanics course announces a trade class at a time when commercial aviation was expanding quickly and needed trained maintenance workers. Federal Art Project artists in Ohio produced silkscreen posters like this one in 1937 to advertise adult education and public programs, and the bold flat color and simple shapes reflect the medium's strengths. A July 7, 1937 date stamp on the back suggests when the poster was processed. It shows how New Deal arts projects also served as public information for job training.
