Parked automobiles fill the foreground of this view of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, a sign of how many fans were driving to ballgames by the mid-1920s. The stadium opened in 1923 as the home of the New York Yankees, and its size and Babe Ruth's home runs soon earned it the nickname "The House That Ruth Built." The record dates the picture to about 1925 and credits Henry Parker of New York City as its photographer and copyright claimant, though that information is unverified. Its baseball tags suggest it was made during the years when the Yankees were becoming the sport's dominant team.
