A caricature of the American pianist and composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, drawn by Henrique Fleiuss, the German-born artist who edited the Rio de Janeiro weekly *A Semana Illustrada*. The lithograph appeared in the journal's May 1869 issue, during the years Gottschalk spent performing across Brazil, when his concerts drew large crowds. Fleiuss uses exaggerated features and musical references to poke fun at the celebrated visitor. The record's identifications come from a caption card and have not been independently verified, so the sitter's name and the details of the scene are best read with that in mind.
