The title "Tyler" is the only identifying detail in this record, and it comes from caption information the Bain News Service recorded on the negative or its card, which has not been independently verified. The image is a glass negative no larger than 5 by 7 inches, one of the many news pictures George Grantham Bain's agency made and distributed from New York in the early twentieth century. Bain's business supplied newspapers with photographs of current events, public figures and everyday scenes, so the collection is valuable for showing how press photography looked in that period. Without a date, the exact subject and occasion remain uncertain.
