Children at play anchor this silkscreen poster, whose slogan, "Their health depends on you," turns a public health warning into an appeal to adults. Designed by C.Y. Bienvenu in 1941 under the Federal Art Project, it belongs to the WPA's early 1940s campaigns against syphilis, a disease health officials feared could pass through families and communities. Its Louisiana subject places the message in a state where public health departments pursued venereal disease control in those years. A January 21, 1943, date stamp on the front suggests the sheet stayed in use well after it was printed.
