Little is recorded about this glass negative beyond its title, a YMCA hut, and an attribution to the Bain News Service, a New York photo agency that sold news pictures to newspapers in the early twentieth century. YMCA huts were simple wooden or canvas buildings the Young Men's Christian Association set up near military camps and behind the lines during World War I, where soldiers could write letters, read, and get a hot drink. Because the title comes from the agency's own notes and has not been independently verified, the exact location and date of this view remain open.
