Addressed directly to single men, this poster asks whether they have attested under the group system, and that question frames the whole sheet. Issued by the Parliamentary and Joint Labour Recruiting Committees around 1916, it is text only, with no illustration, and explains at length the revised rules for enlistment, exemption, and the treatment of men in reserved occupations. The group system, introduced in 1915 under the Derby Scheme, sorted men by age and marital status and let them sign up for later service. The poster shows how heavily the government still relied on persuasion as conscription approached.
