Its title, "All aboard!", casts the purchase of a bond as boarding a train, and the record credits United Cigars, a business that evidently put its name to the appeal. The poster advertises the fourth Liberty Loan, which ran from September 28 to October 19, 1918. It was the last of the four wartime Liberty Loan drives, launched as the United States was mobilizing its economy for the war. Campaigns like this one relied on posters, advertisers, and local merchants to reach people who might not otherwise buy government bonds.
