This lithograph advertises the Great Wallace Shows, a traveling circus whose manager, B. E. Wallace, is named in the subject headings. Its selling point is a ballet billed as a grand spectacle "costumed & presented exactly as in grand opera," led by the Sisters Maccari, Hulda, Adele, and Amelia. Circus bills of the 1890s often promised more than a single ring could hold, and this one stresses a three-ring arrangement and two elevated stages. Printed in Buffalo by the Courier Litho Co. around 1898, the sheet shows how show owners used bold color and celebrity performers to draw crowds. The poster is torn along its right edge, which is visible in the surviving sheet.
