Little is recorded about this particular negative beyond its title, "Thanksgiving," which was supplied by the Bain News Service and has not been independently verified. It is one of the glass negatives in the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress, a body of work made by the Bain News Service, a Manhattan photo agency that supplied news pictures to newspapers in the early twentieth century. The agency's images were often made for quick publication, so holiday subjects like this one give a sense of how the national Thanksgiving holiday was covered in the press of that era.
