A young boy works a straightedge razor over his face in this halftone reproduction of a Norman Rockwell painting, which ran on the cover of *Farm and Fireside* in April 1919. The scene of a child playing at a grown man's morning routine was a favorite subject for Rockwell, who often used everyday moments of boyhood to tell a small story. Halftone printing let magazines reproduce paintings in large runs, so the image reached a wide rural readership. The record's details come from an older caption card and have not been independently verified.
