Mary Pickford's Little Lord Fauntleroy was one of the films that showed her moving beyond the spirited girl roles that had made her famous, here playing a boy in a story adapted from Frances Hodgson Burnett's 1886 novel. This color collotype lobby card was made by Elco Corporation in New York around 1921, when lobby cards like this one were printed to promote films in theater lobbies. The card also carries a subject heading for fighting, a reminder of how the film's plot turns on a gentle boy standing up to a cruel household. Its color printing gives a rare sense of how such promotional pieces were meant to catch a viewer's eye.
