The only identifying details for this glass negative are its title, Alvin S. Page, and the date, September 29, 1921, both taken from data the National Photo Company recorded on the negative or its sleeve and not independently verified. The National Photo Company was a Washington, D.C., commercial firm that documented the city's residents, officials and public events in the early twentieth century, and plates of this modest 5 by 7 inch size were a common tool of its work. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947. Viewers may notice streaks and blemishes, which the record attributes to natural deterioration of the original coatings.
