Printed as a color lithograph in 1920, this French poster promotes the Emprunt National, a government loan drive that invited citizens to buy bonds to help pay for France's postwar recovery. Lucien Métivet, a Parisian illustrator and caricaturist, signed the design, and the name Société Générale appears beside the loan's title. The subject headings link the poster to war relief and to the idea of victory, reflecting how France was still financing the costs of the war after the armistice.
