Marvin, comes from caption cards written by the Bain News Service, and the record marks it as unverified, so the sitter's identity should be treated as a working label. Bain was a New York photo agency that supplied newspapers with pictures of politics, sports, disasters and everyday life in the early twentieth century. Its glass negatives, most of them 5 by 7 inches or smaller, were later transferred to the Library of Congress, where they are catalogued as part of the George Grantham Bain Collection.
