This glass negative shows police moving a crowd along 15th Street in Manhattan, and the record dates it to March 28, 1908. The title comes from caption information the Bain News Service wrote on the negatives or caption cards, which the Library of Congress notes has not been independently verified, so the exact occasion remains uncertain. The Bain agency supplied news pictures to newspapers, and images like this one show how officers handled street crowds in busy New York districts in the early twentieth century.
