Two Men Down" refers to the baseball situation of two outs in an inning, when the fielding team is one out away from retiring the side and a single hit or walk can keep the inning alive. That moment carries its own tension, and players and fans have long leaned in for it. Sports photographers of earlier decades, working with bulky cameras and slower film, often had to anticipate such moments rather than catch them at high speed. The title frames the scene around the count rather than the score, a reminder that baseball is measured in outs as much as runs.
