Few baseball pictures from the period name a sitting president in their record, but this one lists Calvin Coolidge among its subjects alongside the Washington club that won the 1924 American League pennant. The print was published around 1924 by the National Photo Company, a Washington studio that made many portraits of public figures and civic life in the capital. That fall the Senators went on to win the World Series over the New York Giants, the team's best-known season and a source of local pride in the nation's capital.
