The record dates this Japanese print to 1750 but names no artist or subject, and its listing calls it a photo print, even though ukiyo-e were woodblock prints, made by carving an image into wood and pressing ink onto paper. Edo publishers sold such pictures cheaply to townspeople, who bought images of actors, beauties and famous places. Around 1750 most were printed in black ink and sometimes colored by hand, so the lines and any added color are worth studying.
