Inside the Transportation Building at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, this stereograph records an automobile display at a time when motorcars were still a novelty to most visitors. The fair drew exhibitors from around the world to show the latest in travel and industry, and the Transportation Building was one of its largest halls. The card was issued by the Universal Photo Art Co. and copyrighted by C.H. Graves, a maker of stereo views sold as souvenirs. Its paired images were meant to be viewed through a stereoscope, giving visitors a three-dimensional look at the exhibits.
