Identified in its caption as Clyde Fullerton of the Giants, this 1911 image records a New York ballplayer during an era when the city's baseball teams drew large crowds. The Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold news photographs to newspapers, produced many images like it, and this one survives as a nitrate negative, a fragile film base that was standard for press work at the time. The title comes from caption data the agency recorded and has not been independently verified, so the player's identity should be read with that in mind.
