The title names Helio Lobo, but the record marks that name as unverified, so the identity of the sitter should be held loosely. If it refers to the Brazilian jurist and diplomat Hélio Lobo, the picture would date from a period when Latin American diplomats were active in international law and inter-American affairs. The glass negative is 5 by 7 inches or smaller, a format the Bain News Service used for news photographs sold to newspapers in New York and elsewhere, and the undated record gives no further detail about place or occasion.
