Its title, "Faith in Canada," frames the purchase of bonds as an act of trust in the country's war effort. The 1918 lithograph draws on two images that recur in wartime finance posters, soldiers and treasure chests, presenting private savings as the resource that would sustain the fighting. Canada ran several Victory Loan campaigns in the last years of the war, and posters like this one were a main way the government appealed to ordinary citizens to lend their money to the cause.
