The dining room of the Brown Palace Hotel, which the card's own caption boasts as "the finest hotel in Colorado," appears in this 1906 view. Henry C. Brown built the hotel, which opened in 1892 on Denver's 17th Street, and it quickly became one of the best-known addresses in the Rocky Mountain West. Stereographs like this one were printed as pairs and viewed through a stereoscope, a popular way for early twentieth-century readers to see grand interiors in three dimensions. The copyright line for E.W. Kelley and the Universal View Co. imprint show how the card was made and sold.
