The name in this picture's record points to the roundhouse at Douglas, the railroad town in southeastern Arizona. A roundhouse was a circular engine shed built around a turntable, where locomotives were turned, cleaned, fueled and repaired before heading back out on the line. Douglas grew up after the early 1900s as a smelting and rail center, so its roundhouse served the freight and ore trains that kept the town's industry running. Look at how the locomotives line up around the turntable and how the tracks radiate outward, since those details show how a railroad yard organized its daily work.
