The record names Mrs. Nina Larrey Duryea and her aides, though the title comes from unverified caption cards and no date survives. Her name leads this picture apart from the many other Bain images on the board. The George Grantham Bain Collection came from a New York agency that sold news photographs to newspapers in the early twentieth century, so this glass negative most likely belongs to that fast, deadline-driven press work. Its small 5 x 7 inch format was a common working size of the period, and the lack of a date makes the caption cards the main clue to what the sitters were doing.
