Women walking the picket line for the Ladies Tailors in New York are the subject of this glass negative. The Bain News Service, a photo agency that supplied newspapers, sent photographers to labor disputes like this one. The negative gives only February 10 without a year. In the early 1900s, many of the city's garment workers were immigrant women who repeatedly struck for better wages and conditions, and the 1909 shirtwaist strike is the best-known example. The title comes from the agency's caption information, which has not been independently verified.
