This 1936 silkscreen poster advertises *The Warrior's Husband*, a satirical comedy by Julian F. Thompson, and its tagline, "Positively last week!", promotes it as a hit. The Federal theater Project, a New Deal program that put unemployed actors, directors, and designers back to work during the Depression, sponsored the production. Its publicity artists turned to silkscreen because it was cheap to print in quantity and could carry bold, flat color across city streets and community venues. Posters like this one show how the Project marketed its stage work to audiences who might never have bought a theater ticket.
