This picture takes its name from Dalhart, a town in the Texas Panhandle that grew up along a railroad line and served the surrounding cattle country. The record gives no date or photographer, and the title comes from notes written by the Bain News Service, so the subject itself is the best guide to what the image shows. Bain was a news photo agency active in the early twentieth century, and its glass negatives document American towns, events and people in that period. Glass plates like this one were the standard working medium for news and commercial photographers of that era, which is worth keeping in mind when judging the image's sharpness and tone.
