Taken on April 3, 1929, this glass negative records a session of the International Joint Commission, the binational body the United States and Canada created under the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909 to manage shared lakes and rivers along their border. The National Photo Company, a Washington studio active in the early twentieth century, made the image, and the title comes from data on the negative itself, so it should be read as provisional. Visitors may notice streaks and blemishes on the glass, which the record attributes to natural deterioration of the original coatings.
